Cyber Monday couldn’t be better after receiving an email advising that Silverfrost Limited released their latest version of FTN95 and I’m excited about the updates in this version. A complete list of the changes and bug fixes are listed on the Silverfrost Fortran FTN95 Revision History page.
Fortran 2003 and Fortran 2008 features have been added as well as a number of ClearWin+ GUI updates and numerous bug fixes. I use Winteracter for GUI applications, but ClearWin+ is more than adequate for many Fortran applications.
NOTE: You can download a FREE personal edition of FTN95 to test it for yourself. You will see a “nuisance” banner before your application starts, but it’s a small price to pay for a FREE and powerful IDE.
PLATO is a great Fortran IDE and makes it easy to create console based, conventional Windows, and Microsoft .NET applications. Simdem is part of the Silverfrost download and provides the ability to create a wide range of graphs and plots from Fortran! The features of the latest FTN95 release as listed on the Silverfrost FTN95: Fortran for Windows page include:
- Full ANSI Fortran 95 compiler
- Full ANSI Fortran 77 compiler (Fortran 77 is part of the Fortran 95 standard)
- 32- and 64-bit compilers
- Plato IDE
- Build Windows GUI applications in Fortran using ClearWin+
- Visual Studio integration*
- CHECKMATE technology
- Microsoft .NET Support
- Fast Compilation
If you already have a licensed copy of FTN95, you should receive an email from Silverfrost Limited too. The following series of window snips shows each window as the installation progresses.
