It is time to renew my maintenance contract with Silverfrost Limited as it will be expiring in a few weeks. 300 USD is a reasonable price to pay to ensure I receive the latest releases, especially when I consider the changes and bug fixes in version 8.70 (21-Nov-2020).
SilverFrost Fortran FTN95 includes the Plato IDE, CHECKMATE debugging, ClearWin+ with free Simdem graphics development, 32 and 64-bit Fortran compiler, and built-in .NET support. SilverFrost Fortran FTN95 can also be used from the command line. FTN95 also supports Visual Studio 2013 – 2019.
I typically use Silverfrost Fortran FTN95 for smaller projects and ease of use for developing Windows applications. The small price tag it carries is well worth investment. It’s also a small price to pay to ensure a sustainable presence, continued support, and wages for those well-deserving developers.
As a side note, Silverfrost Fortran FTN95 Personal Edition is available free of charge. The only caveat is a nuisance message that appears when the program is run.
